It is located near Taunggyi and is governed by the Burma Forest Department. The level of protection is unknown. The altitudes within the reserve range from 1,045 to 1,750 m It was established in 1906 as the Taunggyi Wildlife Reserve and was redesignated as a Bird Sanctuary in 1989.
